MY PRIORITIES
Standing up for Democracy, not Autocracy
-
Sue will LISTEN and will REPRESENT our Community, not her own ideology, or that of any party or interest group
-
Sue will ADVOCATE FOR WARDS and a MAXIMUM OF TWO TERMS for the Lord Mayor to strengthen the voice of our Community and the accountability of our representatives
-
Sue will champion LESS BEAUROCRACY and MORE DIRECT AND MEANINGFUL ACTION for our Community to make a difference to the everyday challenges we face
Protecting the Community from the Misguided Visions of Local and State Governments
-
Sue will work directly with residents and businesses to ADVOCATE our LOCAL COMMUNITY VISION to Local and State Governments to make sure you are heard
-
The planned Oxford Street Cycleway is the product of an ill-conceived, imposed vision that will be catastrophic for residents and businesses alike
-
Sue will work to RETAIN THE CYCLEWAY ON MOORE PARK ROAD with significant improvements and WILL ACT TO STOP THE CYCLEWAY being MOVED TO OXFORD ST
Revitalising our Cultural Hubs to be Vibrant and Engaging
-
The City of Sydney’s cultural quarter STRATEGY to breathe life back into one of our international icons – OXFORD STREET - has FAILED. The construction sites, the boarded up-shops and the absence of visitors are all glaring examples of this failure.
-
Sue will CONSULT residents and businesses to design cultural plans that are informed by the people who know best – the local community.
-
Vibrant CULTURAL HUBS will be DEVELOPED WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES, not imposed on them via a strategy from an ivory tower.
Rebuilding our villages, with and for our young people
-
Great cities have city VILLAGES which are the CORE OF HEALTHY INNER-CITY LIVING and vibrant local businesses
-
Sue will CONSULT and WORK WITH local communities to BEAUTIFY amenity and streetscape, improve the focus on ALFRESCO DINING on the city’s commercial strips, such as Oxford and other streets, that have missed out in this strategy, improve SUSTAINABILITY, provide COST OF LIVING relief, support DIVERSITY and INCLUSION, respond to pressing LOCAL ISSUES, celebrate FIRST NATIONS CULTURE and REVITALISE our NIGHTLIFE
-
BEAUTIFYING commercial street e.g. include greening, parklets for outdoor dining, fairy lights
-
SUSTAINABILITY initiatives e.g. include increase biodiversity, more EV charging stations
-
COST OF LIVING relief e.g. includes renewable energy initiatives, increased access to public facilities
-
DIVERSITY and INCLUSION e.g. includes helping the most vulnerable with housing affordability and relief, increased funding for shelters and placements
-
REVITALISING our NIGHTLIFE includes e.g. reviewing early closing operating hours and increased safety education and security cameras in out village areas
-
LOCAL ISSUES as they arise e.g. includes controls on e-Bike operators to prevent urban trash
-
FIRST NATIONS support e.g. through public art and culture, planting of native edible species
Supporting small businesses to not just survive but thrive
-
Small businesses are the economic BACKBONE OF A LOCAL ECONOMY that foster amenity, walkability, belonging and intimate villages
-
Small businesses are TREATED LIKE CANNON FODDER when the Council rips up roads. They are dismissed without respecting the human cost and are expected to just be replaced
-
Grants can be more work that they are worth and distract business owners from their businesses
-
Sue will ADVOCATE for PRACTICAL FORMS OF SUPPORT, e.g. local village promotion of local business products, services and activations, metered parking relief, rate relief when Council works disrupt business.
